ADVENTURE IN PATAGONIA:
With topography and an ecosystem as diverse as Patagonia’s, visitors will enjoy a multitude of outdoor adventures. From catching a glimpse of the over 170 species of birds to tackling a class-V rapid, Patagonia provides ample options for adventurers.

Patagonia’s trekking, climbing and mountaineering is next to none. There are thousands of miles of mountains waiting to be tackled by beginner and experienced trekkers and climbers.

For some, diving in the transparent waters of Peninsula Valdes to observe penguins, seals, and whales in their natural habitat is a captivating experience. El Pedral Lodge offers guests a very special chance to observe Southern Right and Killer whales frolicking close to the lodge’s private beach. Whale season runs from September – November although the mammals can be spotted throughout the entire year.

The horse is extremely important to Patagonians. Seen as a necessary component in ranching and herding, the horse has become man’s best friend here. Visitors will find plenty of opportunities throughout their journey to horseback ride on a traditional “criollo” horse, a direct descendant of the Spanish conquistador war horse.

Kayaking and rafting are yet another way of seeing the countryside. The rich geography has also developed terrain ideal for mountain biking or leisurely rides along picturesque roads.

Canopy, a relatively new sport in Patagonia, is wonderful to do with a group. Providing a bird’s eye view of the natural landscape, canopy allows adventurers to swing through Andean forests attached to a series of pulleys, cables and harnesses to platforms attached to some of the tallest of trees. Canopy is an exciting way to view the Patagonia’s flora while having a very minor impact on the environment.
