ITINERARY:

Day 1 (D) – Buenos Aires
Upon arrival at the Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires, you will be escorted by a Patagonia Calling representative to the Marriot Plaza Hotel. Choose from several activities including an afternoon city tour*, a shopping expedition*, or simply roam the city on your own and discover the different neighborhoods. Right out your hotel you will find yourself in the middle of the city´s shopping district. Walk to two of the most popular shopping centers: Patio Bullrich and Galerias Pacifico…or just walk down "Calle Florida" upon which the hotel lies and explore the street's fine gallery stores. The chic neighborhoods of La Recoleta and Puerto Madero are wonderful for casual strolls, or visit the quaint artist quarter of La Boca where you can purchase some of the local art and see the football (soccer) stadium. For those interested in culture, be sure you visit one of Buenos Aires´ museums.  As evening approaches, enjoy a dinner in the new neighborhood of Puerto Madero.
Overnight: Marriott Plaza Hotel
An elegant and stunning 9-story hotel set in the center of Buenos Aires with views of San Martin Park.

Day 2 (B,D) – Buenos Aires/Villa Pehuenia
After a restful night's sleep, an early morning transfer will take you to the airport where you will fly from Buenos Aires to Neuquen, the gateway into Patagonia.  Once you arrive into Neuquen, you will be transported to Posada La Escondida resort – encamped amidst Villa Pehuenia's arid landscape. The resort overlooks the picturesque Lake Alumine in Zapala, the first lake in the lakes corridor that flows into the Alumine River, considered to be one of the best places for white water rafting and where you will have the experience to try for yourself tomorrow.  Enjoy the afternoon to relax and explore the lodge and surrounding area before dinner.
Overnight: Posada la Escondida
Located on the shore of Lake Alumine, visitors can instantly feel warmth radiating from every corner.  You may never want to leave.

Day 3 (B,L,D) – Villa Pehuenia
Following breakfast, you will tackle the rapids on a white-water rafting trip down the Alumine River or simply relax, stay at the lodge and enjoy a calming day listening to the sounds of the forest and the lapping of the lake.
Overnight: Posada la Escondida

Day 4 (B,D) – Villa Pehuenia
Today you will have a full day to choose your own adventure. Local guides are available to help you plan a trek, or for fisherman, fly-fishing is readily available.  Or you may also choose a long stroll by the lake to enjoy the quiet serenity and magnificent landscape of your surroundings. Dinner this evening will be prepared for you at the lodge.
Overnight: Posada la Escondida

Day 5 (B) – Villa Pehuenia/San Martin de Los Andes
Following breakfast, you will mount up for an early horseback ride through the forests of millenary monkey-puzzle trees that surround Villa Pehuenia. The contrast between the trees, the crystal blue water and the rugged landscape is an amazing sight. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to San Martin de los Andes where you will stay at the ever-so-private, Ten Rivers & Ten Lakes Lodge. The lodge only has six rooms to maintain guests´ privacy and boasts an incredible round, all-glass watchtower gathering room where you can enjoy the views in the comfort of this cozy retreat.
Overnight: Ten Rivers & Ten Lakes Lodge
Located just outside the village of San Martin de los Andes, this peaceful and secluded lodge is surrounded by the untamed beauty of Lanin National Park.

Day 6 (B,D) – San Martin de los Andes
In the morning you will be taken on a trekking expedition. A low difficulty trail, this route requires you to navigate the many paths and cliffs to find the perfect spot for great photo opportunities. On your expedition through the chosen route, your guide will point out the many different varieties of trees and plants. Return to the lodge for an enjoyable dinner at Club Arrayan, which was originally the builder's wife's dream house. After her death, her brother turned her beautiful home in the mountains into a lodge and restaurant. At the restaurant Club Arrayan, meaning "where the rays of the setting sun fall," on-premise chefs will prepare your gourmet Patagonian meal. Throughout your dinner you will have the opportunity to enjoy several of the exquisite local wines.
Overnight: Ten Rivers & Ten Lakes Lodge

Day 7 (B,L) – San Martin de Los Andes/San Carlos de Bariloche
After a morning transfer to San Carlos de Bariloche, you will be taken on an excursion through and around the legendary Seven Lakes region. Your journey will take you into Villa la Angostura where you will be served a delicious lunch before arriving at the lodge. Once in Bariloche, you will check in and relax until dinner at the rustically luxurious Arelauquen Lodge. You will have the opportunity to partake in relaxing in the sauna or pool, or spend your afternoon walking, riding, playing polo, fishing, mountain biking, golfing at the lodge's own professionally-designed course, or just exploring the lodge and its stunning surroundings. Guides will be on hand for any special activities you may be interested in.
Overnight: Arelauquen Lodge
Located just minutes from Bariloche in a 500 hectare nature reserve, this five-star hotel also contains a golf course and spa. All rooms booked through Patagonia Calling feature stunning mountain views.

Day 8 (B) – San Carlos de Bariloche
After a morning breakfast you will venture out into the forest for a canopy tour. Canopy is a wonderful way to become engulfed by your natural surroundings. Once securely harnessed, you are attached to a zip-line in the woods and released. As you fly through the forests, look down and you will see the waterfalls, streams, and cliffs below. After lunch, whether you choose to explore on foot or on horseback, you will see the beauty of Bariloche from a completely different perspective. For dinner, you are at leisure to try one of the many restaurants that the town of Bariloche has to offer, but don't forget to leave room for dessert—Bariloche produces 3,000 tons of its own chocolate every year, and many claim that it is some of the world's best.
Overnight: Arelauquen Lodge

Day 9 (B,L) – San Carlos de Bariloche
Today will begin with breakfast followed by an all-day rafting trip down the Manso River. The rapids are formed from the melting of mountain ice. From the roaring of the water to the majestic views of the nearby mountains, this day will be near impossible to forget. For those not interested in rafting there are several activities you can enjoy around the city of Bariloche or on the hotel's property.
Overnight: Arelauquen Lodge

Day 10 (B) – San Carlos de Bariloche/Buenos Aires
Following breakfast, you will have the chance to spend the morning at leisure or traversing the city streets in search of gifts to bring back home. After noon, you will be taken to Bariloche to catch a flight back to the capital city of Buenos Aires where you will once again be staying at the Marriot Plaza hotel. Unlike your first stay in this city, you will be given more time to explore and enjoy the many activities you may have missed during your arrival stay in the city.  Dinner tonight will be at leisure, but we encourage you to join us in an authentic Argentinean tango show!*
Overnight: Marriott Plaza Hotel

Day 11 (B) – Buenos Aires
This being your last day in Argentina, you should spend the morning and afternoon doing whatever your heart desires. There are optional city tours, and many adventures left to be found in Buenos Aires. In the afternoon, Patagonia Calling representatives will return you to the airport for your flight back to the United States.

ADVENTURE IN PATAGONIA:
With topography and an ecosystem as diverse as Patagonia’s, visitors will enjoy a multitude of outdoor adventures. From catching a glimpse of the over 170 species of birds to tackling a class-V rapid, Patagonia provides ample options for adventurers.

Patagonia’s trekking, climbing and mountaineering is next to none. There are thousands of miles of mountains waiting to be tackled by beginner and experienced trekkers and climbers.

For some, diving in the transparent waters of Peninsula Valdes to observe penguins, seals, and whales in their natural habitat is a captivating experience. El Pedral Lodge offers guests a very special chance to observe Southern Right and Killer whales frolicking close to the lodge’s private beach. Whale season runs from September – November although the mammals can be spotted throughout the entire year.

The horse is extremely important to Patagonians. Seen as a necessary component in ranching and herding, the horse has become man’s best friend here. Visitors will find plenty of opportunities throughout their journey to horseback ride on a traditional “criollo” horse, a direct descendant of the Spanish conquistador war horse.

Kayaking and rafting are yet another way of seeing the countryside. The rich geography has also developed terrain ideal for mountain biking or leisurely rides along picturesque roads.

Canopy, a relatively new sport in Patagonia, is wonderful to do with a group. Providing a bird’s eye view of the natural landscape, canopy allows adventurers to swing through Andean forests attached to a series of pulleys, cables and harnesses to platforms attached to some of the tallest of trees. Canopy is an exciting way to view the Patagonia’s flora while having a very minor impact on the environment.
