Bangkok has been Thailand's dominant city since the eighteenth century. Established as the capital in 1767 after the fall of the ancient city of Ayutthaya, Bangkok is located on one of southeastern Asia's most important rivers, the Chao Phraya. In the 1980s and 1990s, Bangkok underwent rapid modernization, growing to approximately ten million people, making this the only major city in a country of villages and small towns. Day 1: Arrival Bangkok
Upon arrival in Bangkok, you will be met & transferred by our professional English speaking guide to your hotel. Remainder of the day or evening at leisure.

Day 2:
Bangkok-City tour for half day and rejuvenate with Thai massage.

Today, enjoy a morning sightseeing tour that includes a visit to the stunning Grand Palace featuring Wat Phra Keo, which houses the 31-inch Emerald Buddha.   Take tuk tuk ride to Wat Pho, the oldest and largest Buddhist temple in Bangkok and home of reclining Buddha. Wat Pho was the first university of Thailand and it is still home of Thai massage today.    

 Later, we cruise down the Chao Phraya River and canal by long-tailed boat. Along the way, you'll see traditional Thai houses, schools, local communities and temples.   Embark at the Royal Barge Museum where the ornament boats are well kept. Every now and then, a Royal barges procession will be arranged for their majesty's visit to the Royal Temple for Buddhism ceremonies.

Note:
Dress Code for the Grand Palace in Bangkok: Sleeveless shirts, shorts, and mini skirts (above the knee) are not permitted. Comfortable walking shoes is highly recommended

In the evening, re-energize yourself with a tantalizing 2-hour Thai body massage. May we recommend a medium to strong massage which improves blood circulation and relieves muscle tension. It is a stretching Yoga massage, based on ancient Ayurvedic principles brought to Thailand by King Rama III and inscribed in Bangkok's famous Wat Pho temple.

Day 3:
Bangkok – helicopter tour of Bangkok and city area.

After breakfast, we proceed to Bangkok airport for a scenic helicopter tour (approximately 50 minutes).  Along the way, you'll see the  Ratchamangkala Stadium, the Erawan Museum, the Phra Samut Chedi, Paknum Samutprakarn and many other points of interest.  On your return flight, you will pass Silom - a commercial hub in Bangkok, and finally the Bangkok city center before returning at the airport.

Tonight we visit a local restaurant to experience authentic Thai cuisine that will not only fill your eyes and soul, but most importantly your appetite. Transfer to your hotel after dinner.

Day 4:
Bangkok – Shopping venue and night show.

Free day at leisure until late evening for an out-of-the-word shopping experience. A destination is never complete unless you get the opportunity to exercise both leg and wallet. Never one to disappoint, Thailand has become the Mecca for shopping in Southeast Asia with its traditional arts and crafts, and modern flair. Bangkok's many fascinating shops, boutiques, street vendors and malls await you!

You'll venture through Suanlum night bazaar for shopping and a puppet show.  We'll give you ample time to walk around the open air market to search for souvenir, silk, paintings, electronics, and arts and crafts. This is a great opportunity for you to sharpen your bargaining skills.

After dinner you'll travel to the Jo Louise Puppet Theater to experience a spell-binding traditional art-form in which small puppets perform elegant, artistic gestures to convey human emotions. Each puppet requires three people to manipulate it, and the characters and events are taken from the 'Ramakien' - Thailand's version of the epic Hindu tale 'Ramayana'.

Sakorn Yangkhiawsod, (more widely known as Joe Louis), the founder of the Hun Lakhon Lek Joe Louis Troupe, was one of Thailand's top puppet masters and the country's last 'Grand Master' of small puppet performers.  The puppet master made his first puppet when he was 20, and over the years, crafted a fine collection of 50 traditional Thai puppets, both large and small. In 1996, in recognition of his efforts to revive traditional Thai puppetry and preserve this ancient art making it an important showcase of Thai cultural heritage, Sakorn Yangkhiawsod was consecrated "National Artist".

The Joe Louis troupe remains Thailand's only troupe that still performs the Hun Lakhon Lek Thai traditional small puppet play and remains the sole guardian of this dying art form.

Day 5 :
Final day in Bangkok.
